Washington, D.C. Travel Diary

During my sophomore year of high school, my family and I visited Washington, D.C. Though I had gone here in 8th grade for school, I did not have the freedom to explore all of the things that I wanted to see during this trip.      When my family and I went together, I was much more excited because I got to see all of the things that interested me.      This first thing that I got to see was an art museum. I cannot remember exactly which one we went to, but I remember being extremely impressed by all of the pieces that they had on display.      I also got to see the Smithsonian natural history museum. I saw this the first time i went to D.C., but I did not get to spend as much time there as I had wanted to, so it was nice to get to take everything in more when I went the second time.      We also went to Arlington cemetery, which is such an eye opening experience.

Charleston, South Carolina Travel Diary

During one of my family’s trips to Cherry Grove, SC, we decided to make a stop in Charleston, NC. I had always wanted to go here because I had seen beautiful pictures of the city online.      When we arrived, we were not disappointed. The first thing that we noticed was how beautiful the houses on the waterfront were. I loved daydreaming about what it would be like to live in one of them.      I wanted to explore as many of the stores in the city as we could, and there were so many cute boutiques. Unfortunately many of them were out of my price range, but they were still fun to see.      I loved walking around on the water front. Like I mentioned in my post about Savannah, it is cool that Charleston in located right on the ocean, but I maintain that I liked Savannah’s waterfront better.

Niagara Falls Travel Diary

During our trip to Letchworth state park, my parents and I decided that we wanted to take a day trip to Niagara Falls, for it was only about 3 hours from where we were staying.      Though we had been to Niagara Falls before, I was really young the first time, so it was really exciting to go again. When we arrived, it was very hot, and there were a lot of people there. It was a Saturday, so that was to be expected.      The first thing we did when we got there was the Maid of the Mist. This was probably a mistake, because we were soaked when we got off, and we had to walk around for the rest of the day.      This trip was extremely fun, and I cannot wait to go back to the falls someday in the future.

Maine Travel Diary

A few years ago, my family and I traveled to the New England states for our summer vacation. Though we were traveling to many different states, the main part of our trip was to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.      We spent one full week in Acadia, and I loved every moment of it.      On our first day in Acadia, we drove to the top of Cadillac mountain, and that was the moment when we realized we were in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We sat on the rocks for over an hour just looking at the landscape that surrounded us.      Within the next few days, we explored many other trails and mountains. My favorite experience on this trip was searching for tide pools. I had wanted to find a tide pool so badly, because I wanted to see starfish. One day, we came across something called anemone cave. It had been taken off the park maps because it was so dangerous, but we looked at the tide charts and we decided to go anyway. When we got down into the cave, it was filled

Columbus-Delaware, Ohio Travel Diary

A few days after my birthday this year, I traveled to Delaware Ohio to visit my boyfriend at his school for the weekend. Coincidentally, his mother bought us tickets to go to the Van Gogh exhibition in Columbus for me as a birthday gift, so we decided to go during this trip.      Upon our arrival to the exhibition, we weren’t sure what to expect. When we went in the room, we were still quite confused, but once the show started we were so excited.      The projections on the walls of Van Gogh’s paintings were so amazing. We ended up sitting through the show twice because we had so much fun.      After this, we headed back to Delaware. We went to Amatto’s pizza.      We had a great time on th trip, and I can’t wait to do it again!

Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio Travel Diary

Over the summer, my boyfriends and I took a weekend trip to Hocking Hills. Due to COVID-19, I wasn’t able to go on a typical senior trip, so we decided to do this instead. It was definitely an adventure, for neither of us had ever traveled anywhere alone, but it was such a fun experience.      We left early in the morning, and it took a little under two hours to get there. We talked and listened to music on the way there, and the car ride was so much fun.      When we arrived, it became clear that we were very fortunate that I was familiar with the park before our arrival, because we lost all service on our phones and we no longer had access to our GPS.      We hiked 6 trails that day. Our favorite trail was Conkles Hollow.     Later that night we went to a local pizza place for dinner, and then we went home the next morning. We made so many fun memories that weekend, and it was a great trip!

Letchworth State Park, New York Travel Diary

In 2019, my family and I took a trip to Letchworth state park in New York. This trip was extra fun because I had no idea what to expect. When we got there, to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement.      This was the first long trip my family and I had done while staying in our camper. We had the perfect camping spot, and it was such a fun experience cooking our food over the fire each night.     While on this trip, we did a lot of hiking. We experienced many of the trails around Letchworth, but we also traveled to Watkins Glenn for a day.     While in Watkins Glenn, we took a schooner ride on Seneca Lake. It was absolutely beautiful, and an experience that I will never forget.

Savannah, Georgia Travel Diary

During one of our family trips down South, we decided to make a stop in Savannah, Georgia. This is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit, and I was so excited to finally see it. Although the weather was very hot, it was still such a great experience.      One of the first things we saw in the city was the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). I was very interested in this, because at the time, I was considering going to art school myself. The appeal of this campus was that it was scattered throughout such a beautiful and creative city.      Along with this, we saw the spot where Forest Gump’s bench was located. This movie was filmed in Savannah, and it also happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time.      While I felt that Savannah felt pretty similar to Charleston in a lot of ways, such as the Spanish moss and beautiful historic buildings, it was very different in terms of its water front. Charleston is located on the ocean, while Savannah is located on a rive

Cherry grove, South Carolina Travel Diary

In 2015, my family and I visited Myrtle Beach, SC. We had been visiting this area annually since I was only 4 years old. My parents got engaged and married here, and we loved it. We always went in the off-season until I was in school, when we had to start going in the summers. At this point, it seemed like the beach got more and more packed every time we visited. One time particularly, someone sat so close to my mom on the beach that she swears she could have reached over and touched them.      At this point, we started looking for a new place to vacation. My dad was exploring google maps, and he noticed a beach he had never heard of before. It was only 25 minutes from our hotel, so we decided to go check it out. We packed up the car, and soon we arrived at Cherry Grove beach.      Upon walking up to the beach, we knew this was the place that we wanted to come to from now on.      Every year since we have visited this beach, and we have fallen more and more and love with it each ti

Cincinnati, Ohio Travel Diary

For many year, my family and I would make an annual trip to Cincinnati in the summers. This is where by father grew up. Because of this, I love going back and seeing small glimpses of what his life was like growing up.      The first thing we did when we got to the city was walk around the river side. We saw the Roebling suspension bridge as well as the purple people bridge. The weather was beautiful on our first day in the city, so it was perfect for sight-seeing outdoors.      After this, we went into the inner city to explore the many things to see in the area. At this time, we visited the contemporary arts museum. I have a deep love for art, so it was interesting to see this new style of art that I had never really been exposed to previously.      At night time, we went back down to the riverside to look at all of the lights on the bridges and the fountains. The city is very beautiful at night time.      The next day, we went to the Cincinnati zoo. This was one of my favorite p
